VOLT Eats Chick Fil A and Mysteriously Qualifies for State

We went 9-0 at the North County VEX Regional on October 26, 2019. It was a pint-sized tournament stocked with some fierce competitors. Watch out for the Nighthawks Robotics Club, their VEX program is looking beefy, though we prefer chicken. However, we would say our biggest accomplishment was the last minute decision to sign up for North County rather than the Chaminade Showdown which was cancelled at the last minute for some mysterious reason. Another disaster barely averted.

This season there seems to be a problem filling up SoCal tournaments which is another mystery, because there doesn't seem to be any more tournaments than there were last year. Where did everyone disappear? The result is more matches with little time in between. So your robot better be reliable cuz there's only showtime and no time for repairs.

Thanks to Todd Parr for putting on another great tournament. Like clockwork, and they magically surprised everyone by selling Chick Fil A in the snack shack, a first for us. Props to those chicken sandwiches for powering us to a win. Refreshing change from Costco pizza, we must say. Did we mention Riley worked for Chick Fil A? Karma?

Btw, what's with the mats at Poway? Like driving through tar. Another VEX mystery. Thanks to Sante Fe Christian team 179 for exchanging one of our rendered useless 200RPM motor cartridges for one of their 100RPM motor cartridges. That kind of sportsmanship is always a nice surprise. And their team 179X was also very nice indeed.

We've decided to go to San Diego for the California State Championship. We were like the second team to sign up and then for some inscrutable reason, everyone started signing up for San Diego leaving Zack and Z Squared alone in the LA venue for weeks. Just when you think you have some clout...
